#InThisTogether - Katherine's Story

My name is Katherine Douglass. I have been attending the Franklin County Fair since I was about 4 or 5 (before I was even in 4-H) entering in open class. Both of my parents grew up with a strong county fair background so it was a tradition in my household. When I was younger I entered just about every open class category from arts, collections and even entered some of the adult baking/cooking competitions for fun!

I started 4-H as a Cloverbud and have been a member for about 11 years. I started with showing my pet rabbit Butterscotch who has gone to fair with me all 11 years! I have taken a variety of other projects including market rabbits, cooking, sewing, leadership, health, shooting sports and this will be my first year taking a poultry project! I also love participating in the extra events like the wheelbarrow races, creative baking, and public speaking! I have done just about everything in my time through the FCF and I'm so thankful for it. It truly helped me grow as a person and a leader.

When I first started showing my rabbit 11 years ago I was so afraid of him I couldn't even hold him, I couldn't even walk into judgings on my own. It was truly because of the role models 4-H and the FCF gave me I was able to explore things outside of my comfort zone. The advisor-member relationship is so unique and an amazing model I especially benefited from!

Now here I am 11 years later so passionate about FCF and Ohio 4-H and I love spreading that message and my story! This year I was selected as the 2019 Franklin County Fair Princess and have had the BEST time going around the state to promote our amazing county fair and gain new ideas! I am currently a member of the Clovers Forever 4-H Club and serve as a 3 year Franklin County Camp Counselor, 3 year Franklin County Fashion Board Member, 2 Year Junior Fair Member, 2 year Ohio Teen Leadership Council Member, and a 2 year Ohio 4-H Healthy Living Advocate!

Please consider making a donation to help us give our participants the chance to show off their hard work at Junior Fair. Thank you.
