#InThisTogether - Brooke's Story

My name is Brooke Fleshman. I have been a 4-H member for 12 years and have been attending the Franklin County Fair my whole life. I always looked up to the people there and couldn’t wait to be a part of it myself. As a 4-H member I have taken a wide variety of projects in the areas of livestock, clothing and textiles, leadership, nutrition and shooting sports. I have also been blessed to serve in many different leadership positions like Junior Fair Princess in 2018 and being Junior Fair board president from 2018-present. Choosing to be so involved has provided opportunities beyond the county level. I am preparing to serve as the Ohio Teen Leader Council President and am serving on a national 4-H team of eight 4-H teens planning the 2020 National 4-H Congress.

4-H has impacted my outlook on so many things, but mainly education. In 4-H we "Learn by doing," and to serve our community through hands-on service projects. Heading into college (fall 2020) I plan to major in Agriscience education.  I hope that I am able to have a career that is a part of educating youth about agriculture.  I'd like to create opportunities that will give them a fresh perspective on where their food comes from and what farmers really do.  Because of 4-H, my family and the "family" that I have made at the Franklin County Fair, I feel extremely supported in everything I do.  I plan to stay active in 4-H as an advisor when I am old enough, so I can continue to pass on the opportunities of positive youth development to future generations.

Please consider making a donation to help us give our participants the chance to show off their hard work at Junior Fair. Thank you.
