2022 Fair Wrap Up

We are doing our best to keep up with the times so the Franklin County Agricultural Society (“FCAS”) will be keeping everyone up to date via this blog from here on out!To catch everyone up, some recent happenings will be highlighted here.  First, before moving forward with lots of exciting planning, we would be remiss if we didn’t take a minute to shout out our appreciation to all those making our 2022 fair a success. So many of you were involved in one way, or many ways, that made an impact to the overall success of our fair.  We want to thank our board members and their families as we know they are ‘recruited’ to assist in many ways before, during, and after the fair with their time and talents.  And then we have our sponsors and donors that contribute financially or with in-kind services or both!  To say we couldn’t host a fair of this caliber without such wonderful support would certainly be an understatement.  The time and commitment provided by all our 4-H leaders, advisors, and friends does not go unnoticed either.  We all have plenty of reasons why we support the fair, but I think we can all say that our common goal is to support the youth.  There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing our 4-Her’s, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts start and finish their projects, raise animals, and gain valuable life skills to take on the world as adults along the way.If you don’t know, many of the fair board members and supporters began making plans for the 2023 fair right after the 2022 fair was over, if not before.  With many new successes last year, including the revamped family fun day, we want to continue to grow and become a staple for families to visit during the summer.  We have many exciting things already planned for 2023, but one of the things we are most excited about is revamping our “Ag Day” at the fair.  While our fair might be situated right in the middle of Hilliard, we want to put some of our best efforts this year into education surrounding agriculture.  We hear all too often that chocolate milk comes from brown cows and that bacon starts at the grocery store.  We have put together a committee of board members and community members that are passionate towards this and have already met a couple of times to begin planning.  However, the more the merrier, so please reach out to us if you want to volunteer towards these efforts!Lastly, we are always in need of volunteers.  From livestock to junior fair, to social media, there’s plenty of ways to get involved.  If interested, please send an email to abbybates93@gmail.comAs a reminder fair memberships will be available to purchase in the fair office beginning December 1st.We are looking forward to working with everyone for the 2023 fair!
